I’ll be posting some video and Part 2 of the Road Trip later this week, but my buddy Jack Newkirk took this pic and I wanted to post it. It is nice to have a friend who is a master photographer.

Here are a few pics from a session I was at this weekend at the Lil Surfer ditch, in Austin. These are shots of my friends Jack and John. We were hitting the ditch on Gravity Minicarve boards. They are both Gravity teamriders. Great guys, and a really fun session.

John has really become sort of the master of the Minicarve. He has a great style, and this seemingly primitive board really suits him. I say seemingly primitive because, really, the board is very well-designed.

I have never seen anyone that skates quite like Jack, except maybe pictures and video of Jay Adams. Jack gets sooooo low to the ground, and just skates so fast. I didn’t even gets pics of most of his stuff – he was doing footplants, bonedrechts, etc. Really rad.

I spoke a little too soon when I posted that killer video from Loaded earlier.

OK, I just did an interview of my friend John Armstrong, and today I find this sweeeeeeeet video he put on youtube. This is just so sick! Now I want to go ride Mini-Carves with him. THIS is Texas longboarding. Buy your Mini-Carve from Gravity Skateboards.

I began to post this interview last week, but when I saw the beautiful photos that Jack Newkirk took for this, I decided to format the interview using the Pages application for Mac, and post it as a PDF file. This is my first attempt at doing actual page layout, and I’m sure there are some typos, so stay with me on this…there is a learning curve.

John and I conducted this interview over a couple of days, using the Facebook message system. Which is why it may read a little funny. I’ve done minimal editing, to try to keep the flow of a conversation.

John Armstrong has been a force in Texas Longboarding for quite some time, and we’re lucky to have him here.

Here is a nice downhill run posted by the boys in Austin, from Sundae Skates. This street is a popular downhill spot. Notice how fast they pick up speed.
